Important — not a contact link

If the Android app says “Invalid Link! the text you copied is not a SimpleX link”, you pasted this into the connect to a person box. That only accepts invitation links (like https://simplex.chat/contact#…).

Server addresses go in Settings → Network & servers, not in “Paste link” / first-screen connect.

Android: first time setup

Open SimpleX → Create profile (display name + database passphrase). You can use the default public servers for this step.
After the main screen appears, open Settings (gear / bottom or top menu).
Go to Network & servers (sometimes under “Advanced” / “Your servers”).
Enable Configure SMP servers (or “Your SMP servers”) → Add server.
Paste the full address below (or scan the QR). Save / test connection if offered.
Also add the XFTP file server the same way under XFTP servers.

You do not need another person online first. Settings unlock after you create a profile.

Ports & why the address is long

Protocol port is 5223 (included as :5223 in the address). Host HTTPS on 443 is only this info page (Caddy / Matrix stack).
The long fingerprint is required so the app can verify the real server (not a fake).
The password only allows creating queues on this private relay.
